Address: 2359 Landa St. (bottom), 1926 Walcott Way (top) – park on Whitmore
Description: Bushy and secluded near the top, but empties into a bustling neighborhood at bottom. Bonus points for sculptures!
How many steps? 151
Landa-Walcott is just a few steps from Peru St. (and Hwy 2), but the upper entrance on Walcott almost feels like part of some remote mountain “settlement”—cars are parked haphazardly on the edge of the road, and a thick tree canopy blocks out most of the road noise. It was nice, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that somebody could easily pop out from behind a tree and no one would hear me scream. BUT all that changes as you go down the steps towards Landa. The trees thin out, the sun shines thru, and there’s a mini sculpture garden next to some fragrant flowering vines. There’s also a super cute orange door that looks like it was built by hobbits.
